We’ve all known it as the Offington Counselling Service for many years now. They’ve been making a massive contribution to the emotional wellbeing of our town since since 1983. They provide counselling for people who otherwise might not be able to afford it. So when they decided to change their name to Worthing Counselling Centre and approached Worthing Community Chest for funds and announced a quiz night to celebrate, we thought it only right and proper that we turn up with the big cheque and a formidable quiz team.

Unfortunately, the only people available were trustees Fred Weller and Paul Willis and our grants administrator Inga Lielgalve. Fortunately, there were questions on their specialist subjects; Elvis – the early years, British piers and the Russian alphabet. We finished in third place and, before you ask, there were more than three teams.

It was a good night. They cut the cake, we ate the cheese, we won absolutely nothing in the raffle and then everyone toasted the re-launch of an excellent local charity. Well done to everyone involved in the Worthing Counselling Centre.

Worthing Community Chest awarded Worthing Counselling £1,500 to help with their rental costs. If you run a welfare group in Worthing that needs funds maybe we can help you? For more information take a look at our guidelines.
