#Scratchpad Cheque Presentation

#Scratchpad Cheque Presentation

This week Chair, Karl Allison and Charity Co-ordinator Catherine Attwood went along to Colonnade House to meet the Scratchpad team and present them with a chequ for £1462.69. Below is Karl’s blog

It’s a nice feeling, walking through the centre of Worthing or driving around The Steyne on a breezy winter’s evening and suddenly seeing the curved windows of Colonnade House all lit up by gorgeous video projection and thinking, “we did that”.

We didn’t, of course, not really. It was the work of the young people taking part in the Scratchpad project, tutored and enabled by the wonderful people from AudioActive, As Described and Northbrook MET. But Worthing Community Chest provided the funding for one of the projectors and that feels good. And when you consider that we get much of our funding from the recycling bins these days, it means that we’ve turned old trousers into art, and that feels very good indeed. Behold, we have made light.

Recently endorsed by a surprise visit from the mighty talent that is Rag’n’Bone Man, the Scratchpad project runs for six weeks, providing free sessions to our talented young people, creating original music and live visuals. As well as the traffic-stopping lights, there’s a listening booth in the doorway of Colonnade House and the promise of gigs and some top-notch busking around town in the coming months. Enjoy it and keep giving us your trousers.

Our latest round of funding is now open! Apply before the end of April to be included in our May round,
